GENERAL MEETING: FURNITURE DESIGN

This past Tuesday, we had the pleasure of hosting Adriana Gonzalez, who gave an insightful and engaging presentation on her role as a furniture dealer designer.

She walked us through the full lifecycle of a project, offering a behind-the-scenes look at how furniture solutions are developed, specified, and brought to life within real-world design projects.

Adriana shared Tangram’s comprehensive process, illustrating how a project evolves from the initial bidding phase through proposal submission to the presentation of tailored furniture concepts to clients. She explained how designers translate ideas into detailed furniture cutsheets, complete with precise specifications, materials, and finishes. From refining selections and coordinating final details to ordering, logistics, and installation, her presentation highlighted the depth of collaboration, strategy, and technical knowledge required in the industry.

It was a fascinating look into a career path that blends creativity, problem-solving, and project management, and an invaluable learning experience for anyone interested in the world of commercial interiors and furniture design.

“Furniture design is definitely fast-paced, but that’s what makes it exciting-there’s always something new to figure out, and you get to see your work move on from concept to reality really quickly.” - Adriana Gonzalez

Thank you so much, Adriana, for your presentation and wonderful information. We loved learning more from you!
